Over the past couple of months, I have attempted to quit coffee or at least “detox” from it. However, I keep getting sucked back into the social aspect of it. And also the smell and taste. It really does smell so good.
Why am I quitting again?
Yesterday, I stupidly made a coffee at work that had 3 shots of espresso in it. Bad move. It was ridiculous. Why?
I COULDN’T FUCKING SLEEP last night! Was. Not. Cool.
I put on the diffuser with balance and lavender to get my mind and body ready for sleep. Took a magnesium tablet and a 5-HTP capsule, which did absolutely nothing! Did my usual ritual with the essential oils. But I couldn’t get to sleep and I kept thinking “damn that coffee.”
I woke up a couple times to go to the loo (it was the peppermint tea!) and decided to just browse Pinterest until I felt sleepy.
Before I knew it, my phone alarm outside my bedroom was going off at 6:18am (I don’t sleep with my phone in the room due to EMF – more on that another time!) so it was time to get up.
Since I was in no way going to drink coffee today, I created a coffee free bulletproof concoction – Dandelion Rooibos Chai Bulletproof!
What’s in it and how to make it?
- 3 tsp roasted dandelion/chicory root
- 1.5 tsp Tinderbox Rooibos Chai
- 1.5 tsp homemade chai spice
- 400ml water
Combine the above in a pot with a whisk and let it simmer for a couple of minutes.
Strain into a french press, then pour into a blender. I use my trusty Vitamix. Don’t pour this mixture into a glass blender, it will shatter and crack from the hot liquid.
Next, add in the following:
- 1 tsp MCT Oil
- Couple splashes of cream
- 1 TB of good quality butter (preferably organic and/or grassfed)
- 1.5 tsp of Great Lakes Gelatin
Blend on a low speed until everything is emulsified together.
Pour this back into the pot on the lowest heat and add in sweetener of choice. I used 1/2 tsp of raw honey, but I added the honey after I turned off the stove.
This concoction should be lovely and frothy. I poured this into my Klean Kanteen insulated thermos and drank it at work! 😀 (sorry, no photo! just use your imagination :P)
Hold Me Accountable!
I have to keep this up – I must save my adrenals. Caffeine is terrible on the adrenals, especially if you have Adrenal Fatigue. I’ve been battling Adrenal Fatigue for almost two years, it was getting better last year, but this year, I’m struggling a little but the essential oils have been helping. Thus, why I need to stop with my daily coffee. I only have one but not everyday.
Seeing as it’s Spring now, it means I can get back into my smoothies too. Yeah, yeah, they say don’t drink your calories? Have you seen me lately? I’m pretty sure it’s not going to make me blimp out like a fatty boombah.
