The Battle between Vitamix & Thermomix

August 31, 2015 By Angie 2 Comments

Okay, so I crossed over to the dark side… that’s right, I now own a Thermomix. After saying I didn’t like them and believe in them, I got one. Just as the new model came out.

The previous version, TM31, had way to many buttons for my liking. Which put me off… I am a usability expert when it comes to interfaces, and the TM31 wasn’t usable to me. Rather scary, actually.

TM31

I mean, look at all those buttons!!! TOO MANY BUTTONS!!! I’m not sure how someone over the age of 60 would use it, as they struggle with phones and computers and iPads.

Before I continue to ramble on about how fantastic the Thermomix is, I do love my Vitamix. It has served me well and will continue to serve me well.

I guess I am very lucky to have the Rolls Royce of a food processor and a blender. Both sit proudly on my kitchen bench (at my old house…)

RollsRoyce

The new Thermomix TM5 (which has been out since September 2014 and caused an uproar!) is very pretty with no buttons and just a silver dial. It is all touch screen and has a recipe chip! A new and updated spaceship! Wheeeeee…

TM5

I still use my Vitamix Blender, because it blends my smoothies much smoother than the Thermomix. But if I didn’t have a Vitamix, the Thermomix is more than enough to do the job. You just have to blend it for a really long time to get a smooth consistency – and when I say a long time, I say more than a minute. The Vitamix gets me a smooth blend in 30-40 seconds.

I’m not going to go into all the pros and cons of each appliance in this blog post, I will do one separately later for each one.

Personally, I don’t think there is much of a battle between the two appliances – one is a blender that can make soups and the other is a food processor which has a heating element that can cook food. They are both different and I love them both. But if I had the Thermomix first, I wouldn’t get a blender. However, I had the blender first and then when I saw how awesome the new TM5 was, I was sold 😛

If you are in Perth (Western Australia) and interested in to learn more about the Thermomix, contact me and I will put you in touch with my consultant 🙂

Have a great day,

xx Angie

Found this in the basement of our apartment building. Someone obviously didn’t like their valentine... . . . #valentines #valentinesday #valentinesgift #bemyvalentine #valentinesday2020 Zak’s lunchbox for today... he won’t eat the cucumber! When I don’t put it in there, he always asks where’s the veggies, even though he doesn’t eat them. Expose, expose, expose. I tell him he doesn’t have to eat it. . . . . #pickyeater #pickyeaters #extremepickyeating #mumlife #sahm #sahmlife #yumbox #yumboxlunch #schoollunch #schoollunchideasthstarenutfree My big little man’s last day at daycare before kindy at big boy school! Zak has loved daycare, been going to the same one since he was a weee little 18 months old. The daycare he goes to has all sorts of activities and incursions, as well as Pyjama Drama and turtle walks by the South Perth foreshore, which Zak loved. Thanks @studio64group for everything, great educators and environment . . . #perthmum #kindykid #sahm #sahmlife #myboy #daycarelife #mylife

The mushroom carpaccio and the massaged kale salad. I actually blanched the kale for a minute or less as raw kale wreaks havoc on the thyroid. I also added some leftover avocado to the dressing. Yummy delicious and I’m not even vegan. . . . #veganrecipes #veganfood #homecook #healthylifestyle #healthychoices #salad #cooked #nourish #nutrition #jerf
