Yep, that’s right – We’re having a baby!
And let me be honest with you, first trimester pregnancy is not the funnest. No-one really prepared me for it. The tiredness, the smell sensitivity, the cravings! Oh my gosh…
I guess my first trimester is not as bad as some others, as I didn’t throw up. I did dry wretch a few times but that is all. I felt nauseous at most times of the day for the first three months. I had to take a nap every afternoon because I was so ridiculously tired, like I was hungover. You know that feeling you get after a big night on the alcomahol… except that I didn’t have any, of course.
And food? All I wanted was CARBS CARBS CARBS!!! I’m not perfect, I don’t claim to be either. So, I also had the chicken burgers from McDonalds, HJ’s and KFC. KFC was the best one, but did you know they don’t do the works burger anymore?! Apparently they discontinued it a few years ago… that shows you how often I eat KFC. Good thing was that they added bacon and cheese to the zinger burger and then at home, I had a can of pineapple rings opened so I added one of them. SO GOOD! I have to say though, so disappointed with HJ’s grilled chicken burger, it was not as good as they used to be many moons ago.
I also had cravings for pancakes! Below is the red velvet pancakes with whipped cream cheese, I think. We went to Sapore in Belmont. This was delicious!
And more pancakes! These ones are from Bad Apples in Applecross. These were nice and fluffy, maybe a little too thick for my liking. I felt that it was too much pancake with not enough sauce and things to go with the pancake.
I also attempted at pancakes myself. This was a banana and nutella pancake, I can’t remember off the top of my head where this came from. They were not fluffy like I wanted it to be, but still tasted pretty good. They went flat fast, so I wouldn’t use this recipe again.
I tried again and found a better recipe which yielded a decent thickness and fluffy pancake. Not too thick like Bad Apples, but not too thin either. These pancakes retained the thickness and did not go flat. I can’t remember which recipe I used, unfortunately. But one thing is to not over mix the batter!
Other foods I craved:
- Ham & Cheese toasted sandwiches
- Donuts… (don’t judge me!!)
Basically all the things I didn’t really eat pre-pregnancy
Things I went off:
- Broccoli, Asparagus
- Things I ate pre-pregnancy!
Stay tuned for second trimester…
