… that you are responsible for your own happiness
… food is medicine & diets are crap
… efficient exercise is essential… you don’t need to be at the gym 7 days a week (unless you’re competing in an event)
… that you can learn to love your job
… your health & wellness journey, is an infinite one. It’s never-ending, hopefully always improving and discovering. And in turn, you are living a life that is full of energy and good vibes!
I believe in many things and as you get to know me, you will learn them along the way and I hope to impart some good useful wisdom to you 🙂
Things I do
… I help women & men make better food choices
… I make healthy food EASY & TASTY (yes, I do!)
… I listen and pay attention to what people tell me (so I’ll remember what you do, how many kids they have even if I haven’t seen you in years)
… Suggest ways to add some fun into life – because let’s face it, it’s not fun or enjoying life if you are sitting on the couch watching TV when the weather is beautiful
… I help people reach their fitness and nutrition goals, WITHOUT dieting or hitting the gym everyday (seriously, it’s not necessary)
… Continuous & infinite education on alternative health & wellness – so I can serve YOU better 🙂 (doesn’t that sound good?)
… I have come a longggg way. Check out my before and after picture below!
… So what did I do differently? I took out sugar, rice, pasta, bread, white potatoes, fast food, soft drinks, processed fruit juices and just generally cheap food out of my lifestyle. I also started going to the gym and found ways to exercise efficiently without spending hours in the gym or having to go everyday.
My interest in health, nutrition, food, fitness – it became an obsession. It still is! I’m forever taking pictures of my food and instagrammin’ – more so now then ever! 😛
This year, 2014, I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I am now a certified and qualified Health Coach. But I like to call myself a Holistic Lifestyle Advisor. I’m all about everything in life, not just health. But for me, food & fitness does play a big part!
Now… the way I eat is very unconventional and perhaps very unorthodox. If today’s doctors and conventional dietitians/nutritionists saw how much butter, cream & fat I eat – their eyes would probably come out of their eye sockets. But it’s better than putting fake food and fake oils into my body.
I’ve also started introducing certain grains back into my lifestyle – like quinoa, millet, fermented brown rice, black rice. And when I want bread, I bake my own sourdough! I can now make sourdough pizza bases. Everything is made with love (most of the time) in my household 😀
I’ve always said sugar is evil, but I allow coconut sugar/syrup, raw honey, jarrah honey, yacon syrup, barley malt syrup – the less processed sweeteners. The honeys mentioned actually have many health benefits. But I still say to use these sweeteners as very little as possible. If you need the extra energy for your workouts, then by all means, go for it, but be sensible. You only need a little drizzle or sprinkle on whatever you are eating.
I’ve never believed in diets and the word “diets” is a dirty word on this website. Let’s never mention it again.
Now… March 2014
